All Too Much, Under the Most High

"Surprise Trust Fall"

1 note

33 Years

Won’t you take over these remnants of a city gone sour?

I fell to my knees as I watched a bomb blow my pride away.

The ashes turn to seeds and the crippled are are picked up to their feet by you.

And we run, we run to tell the story of God made man, we run by a strength and blood not our own.

Broken walls crumble to the shudder of Holy Spirit moving inside of us, won’t you build up a city that needs no boundaries?

New words, new clothes, all white like the waiting palm-sized stone that states a new starting point.

No wait, no lines, the old economy overrun by a system that needs no bills to pay off our debts.

Won’t you rage, won’t you wash, won’t you help me to recognize what your thirty-three years on our planet has changed for me?

And at the tipping point of thirty-three years your death unbalances everything in our favor, oh thank-you for grace abounding!

If I could I would sink somewhere further than my knees allow.

Where I End, God Begins.

Man has it been a long time!

But I guess I have some things to say, and this seemed like a good place to say it, though maybe it takes far less courage here than it does elsewhere. I’ll have to take this elsewhere as well.

I lust, and sometimes a whole lot. I can become very attached to girls that I hardly even know. But because I can become very needy, lately I have been trying to show off my photography or artwork so that I can be known for how “good I am” at those things. I also have been working really hard to get good grades, so that I can be proud of them and not have to think about how I’ve stopped caring like I should for the poor and dying around the world. I try to look like a better person than I am, so that I have more fueling the fire of my PRIDE. That’s a small amount of who I am beneath all that stuff you guys see, though I wouldn’t doubt it if you can all see right through me.

I’m screwed-up! I’m a mess. I’m a fake, a hypocrite.

I’m a sinner saved by grace. Because that’s what this is all about. I’m sorry for projecting a false self, for denying some of you the chance to see the work and glory of God. Because I really am screwed up. I really am stained by my pride and shame, and certainly way more than I know. But we are also loved, beyond what we can imagine and, that’s where we’re found. Where our mess builds a pile at the foot of the cross of Jesus Christ.

That’s where everything I’ve done ends, and where everything God has done begins. God is love, and everyone who lives in love lives in God.

still_film: We, as Romans

still-film:

For the first time in recent memory, at least since July, something from scripture stuck with me. It weighed on my heart the entire day as I started to see it’s relevance everywhere. In the gospel, Jesus is surrounded by Roman soldiers before the crucifixion. They beat him, mocked him, and spit in…

Part of the Mother’s Body?
The slogan, “My Body, My Choice,” betrays a tragic misunderstanding of what is taking place inside the womb.   At no point in pregnancy is the developing embryo or fetus simply a part of the mother’s body.
There are a number of clear biological facts, and all sorts of legal precedents, that easily refute the claim that the embryo or fetus is simply part of the mother’s body.
1)  An individual’s body parts all share the same genetic code.  If the unborn child were actually a part of the mother’s body, the unborn’s cells would have the same genetic code as the cells of the mother.  This is not the case.   Every cell of the unborn’s body is genetically distinct from every cell in the mother’s body.
2)  In many cases, the blood type of the unborn child is different than the blood type of the mother.   Since one body cannot function with two different blood types, this is clearly not the mother’s blood.
3)  In half of all pregnancies, the unborn child is a male, meaning that even the sex of the child is different from the mother.
4)  As Randy Alcorn states in his book Pro-Life Answers to Pro-Choice Arguments, “A Chinese zygote implanted in a Swedish woman will always be Chinese, not Swedish, because his identity is based on his genetic code, not on that of the body in which he resides.”
5)  It is possible for a fetus to die while the mother lives, and it is possible for the mother to die while the fetus lives. This could not be true if the mother and child were simply one person.
6) When the embryo implants in the lining of the uterus, it emits chemical substances which weaken the woman’s immune system within the uterus so that this tiny “foreign” body is not rejected by the woman’s body.  Were this tiny embryo simply “part of the woman’s body” there would be no need to locally disable the woman’s immunities.
7)  It is illegal to execute a pregnant woman on death row because the fetus living inside her is a distinct human being who cannot be executed for the crimes of the mother (International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights: Article 6.5).
8)  When Scott Peterson killed his pregnant wife, Laci, he was convicted on two counts of murder.
9)  Sir Albert Lilley (the “Father of Fetology”) made this observation in a 1970 speech entitled “The Termination of Pregnancy or the Extermination of the Fetus?”
Physiologically, we must accept that the conceptus is, in a very large measure, in charge of the pregnancy…. Biologically, at no stage can we subscribe to the view that the fetus is a mere appendage of the mother…. It is the embryo who stops his mother’s periods and makes her womb habitable by developing a placenta and a protective capsule of fluid for himself. He regulates his own amniotic fluid volume and although women speak of their waters breaking or their membranes rupturing, these structures belong to the fetus.  And finally, it is the fetus, not the mother, who decides when labor should be initiated.
To put it simply, women don’t have four arms and four legs when they’re pregnant.   Those extra appendages belong to the tiny human being(s) living inside of them.   At no point in pregnancy is the developing embryo or fetus simply a part of the mother’s body.

Do Not Be Afraid

I would say one of the most important beliefs we need to get a grip on is that our God is bigger than our fears.

We need to understand that about our Father. About our Abba, the One we cling to and love. The One we know, and the One who listens to us in the dark of the night.

Do not be afraid. The most repeated phrase in the Bible, at least that’s what I heard.

Do not be afraid.

Do not be afraid.

No really, stop it. It’s a lie. It is completely false, you’re safe, you have no reason to hide away. Stop running. Stop tip-toeing around. Stop thinking no one cares, or that no one listens, or that it’s not worth it. Whatever it may be that you are so afraid of, it’s a lie! Forget everything else, if anything, fear the Lord. Because He is the only one who will never have a chance of turning on you.

Do not be afraid.

Do not be afraid.

Do not be afraid.

Jesus loves you. God loves you. Your Heavenly Father seeks you, that you may live. Do not be afraid.
